Malik Willis electrified the Miami Dolphins' preseason opener with a commanding performance leading a 93-yard touchdown drive, showcasing poise, organization, and a deep connection with rookie receiver Caleb Douglas. Willis' ability to extend plays with his legs drew attention, especially his red zone scramble that resulted in a critical horse collar penalty for the Washington Commanders. Is Miami's offense finally coming into focus around its new starting quarterback? Quarterback depth remains a glaring concern as Quinn Ewers struggled, hampered by a groin injury, and backup options Cam Miller and Gronowski faltered—combining for a dismal 4 of 19 and three interceptions. With potential trade rumors swirling around names like Anthony Richardson and JJ McCarthy, the Dolphins face a crucial decision: can they find a reliable backup to secure their offense before opening day, or risk unraveling if Willis is sidelined?
